Schools Closing in Andhra Pradesh? Education Minister Rebuts Fake News
A fake circular with the Government of Andhra Pradesh logo and signatures of officials, claiming that the state government has declared holidays for all schools and colleges from March 1 to May 4 in view of COVID-19 pandemic, is doing rounds on social media. Refuting this claim, the Education Minister Adimulapu Suresh said that classes for school students for the current academic year will continue till June, without any disruption.

He also said in the press meet “The syllabus has been condensed and the academic calendar has also been issued. We are at a stage where schools and colleges have almost returned to normalcy. Yet, fake news like this is becoming viral.” Directorate of School Education and other authorities have been instructed to take strict action against those spreading false information like this, by registering cases under cybercrime.
